Assisting St Johns County Since 2015
Founded in 2015, St. Johns County VOAD/LTRO has been at the forefront of disaster response in our community. Over the years, we have grown to include 48 organizations, each bringing unique skills and resources to our collective efforts. Our network has responded to Hurricanes Irma, Matthew, Nicole and Ian by providing critical support and making a positive impact on many lives.
DISASTERS BEGIN AND END LOCALLY
The localized nature of disaster preparedness and recovery is essential for effective and efficient management of disasters. It can take several days for assistance to arrive in the aftermath of a devastating disaster. The LTRO can start its work immediately upon safe return to the disaster area. It leverages local knowledge, resources, and relationships to respond quickly and sustain long-term recovery and resilience. Long after state, national and philanthropic funding has left the area, the LTRO is at work with survivors whose needs are still unmet. Our local resources fill that gap.
